This is where it all started. We visited our partners at Twongerekawa Coko back in 2018, and launched our first edition with them that autumn. Three harvests later, we’ve released our funkiest roast yet, and boy are we excited about it.
This women-run cooperative lies 2000m above sea level near northwestern Rwanda’s volcanic region: prime conditions for producing high-quality beans with a bright acidity. Over the past years, they worked to develop a special “honey-washing” process (which keeps about 40% of the coffee’s outer cherry intact while drying on shaded beds), adding some sweetness and complexity to their product. Ever tried a candied orange? Yeah, basically that. Needless to say, we fell in love.
While we use these puppies for espresso drinks in our shop, they also feature beautifully when brewed with a French Press, Aeropress, or stovetop Moka Pot.
