These beans come from one of Capricornio's carefully selected "signature" lots from Fazenda California, Fazenda Fronteira, Mulheres do Café Matão, and the group of smallholder farmers of São Jerônimo da Serra. Signatures are machine picked, blends of pulped natural and natural processed fazenda lots, patio and machine dried, dry milled with great eye for detail with state-of-the-art equipment before carefully cupped by qualified graders and combined and calibrated for annual consistency.

This "Limpido" blend is honey-processed, allowing for some sweet treats (think dried fruits, toasted nuts) to come through in the cup. We enjoy these on our shop grinder as a light espresso, or brewed as a big batch of filter, when you'll get more old school nutty Brazilian notes.

CAPRICORNIO

This is a comeback story. The states of São Paolo and Paraná used to be vibrant coffee producing regions in the 1960s, but a series of destructive frosts and the rise of coffee producers closer to the Equator forced many farmers northward off their land. Recently, rising temperatures have breathed new life into the gutted region, presenting new opportunities for coffee producers. Our partners, Capricornio, brought together 20 ambitious farmers under the Four Seasons Project and helped transform their farms into ecologically sustainable and innovative operations.

Capricornio, led by its co-founder Luiz Roberto Saldanha, now supports and commercializes a significant network of small farms and processing stations in six coffee growing regions around southern Brazil. They greatly reduce the ecological footprint of all their 20 partner farmers, helping to build water-efficient mills and implementing waste water treatment technologies. They also stimulate the use of organic fertilisers, energy-efficient machinery and irrigation systems.

Fucking Strong Coffee is a specialty coffee brand from the folks behind Good Beans - a beloved bean shop tucked amongst the canals of Amsterdam. We built the brand in 2018 as a response to the monotonous, snobby tone that had infected most of the specialty coffee world. Minimalist cafes, ridiculously technical language, pretentious branding, and moralizing eye rolls… they all snarkily whispered the same thing: specialty coffee is for the few. You want to know what we think…? Fuck that.

In many ways, our beans are fancy as fuck. We traceably source coffee from small, top-notch producers who are paid far above market price for meticulously processing their cherries and sustainably maintaining their land. In Amsterdam, we specialty roast with the type of care that would make any smirking barista smile – bringing out bold, surprising flavors that we’re always jazzed to share with our friends.

Our fresh beans are packed in our signature resealable cans (which you can refill for a discount at our Amsterdam shop if you're in town) or in swanky black kilo bags. We roast weekly and ship within 2-3 business days.
